Gipiemme was founded in Milan in 1964 as a standard mechanical workshop. After establishing itself in the industry, focus began on the design and production of third party bicycle parts and components until finally producing its own complete group sets. The most famous being the Bagar, Cronosprint, Alto and Azzurro lines. In the following years Gipiemme affirmed its reputation as one of the world main producers for complete cycling groups and striving to continue innovation on the its range of products. In the nineteen eighties, Gipiemme began to specialize more on cycling components and in 1980 started the production of frame components such as the famous fork end. In 1984 the first wheel made entirely of carbon was produced and in 1985 Gipiemme manufactured the first production of complete wheels for Track and Crono. These revolutionary wheels made of fiberglass – named ‘Lenticular’ due to their typical ‘lens’ shape – and were the starting point for the development of this groundbreaking product. In 1989, with the assistance of aeronautics technology, Gipiemme started the exclusive production of rayed wheels in both aluminum and carbon fiber. During 1992, Gipiemme expanded the range of products and worked to completely challenge and change the classical spoke wheel design and as a result created the Tecno 416. Seven years later, in 1999, Gipiemme presented the first CNC manufactured wheel which boasted ultra-lightness due to its regrouped spokes placed in three by three and four by four groupings. In 2002 Gipiemme developed and brought to the world market the exclusive SBS Short Breaking System patent that guarantees the reduction of breaking distances while maintaining road-holding safety. All the rims, wheels, saddles and handlebars made by Gipiemme and NISI are entirely produced in Italy in the factory located in Loria (TV).
